One of the most important challenges touring bands face on a night-to-night basis is the "bathroom situation" at a venue. Here are a couple videos (from the Lost Art album release show in Winnipeg) for your viewing pleasure before we head out on the road tomorrow. Complete tour dates here.

The Details Announce National Tour Dates, Post Acoustic Videos In Preparation For The Release Of Lost Art

Winnipeg Manitoba's The Details will follow up their 2010 EP The Original Mark with their second full length album Lost Art. Sure to be one of the most cohesive, focused and creative indie pop albums to come out this year, Lost Art is produced by Brandon Reid (The National) and Stephen Carroll (The Weakerthans), and is set for release on May 31. The band will be playing every city and town they can in support and have now announced their first set of tour dates. In the meantime they have posted acoustic videos for songs both old and new in preparation.

"If there's one thing Canada's musical community does well (and there's much that would be on that list) it's the effortless way they have with creating poignant, powerful roots rock moments. The Details from Winnipeg are one of the country's best..." - Quick Before It Melts.

10.26.10 - The Original Mark ep out November 16th!!

CLICK TO PREORDER.

The Details are happy to present The Original Mark ep, their first collection of new songs since 2007's 'Draw a Distance. Draw a Border.' The Original Mark ep is centered on two tracks from the bands upcoming full length album, produced by Stephen Carroll (of The Weakerthans) and Brandon Reid (The National). The remaining three, as yet unreleased songs, were pulled from various sessions throughout The Details' history.

The disc's title track opens the affair. It's a song built around a snare brush shuffle and carried along by its simple melody and infectious chorus. The song comes crashing to a close in a climax of violins, piano and guitars. The quirky Uniform gives The Details best impression of Leonard Cohen and tells the story of a war veteran struggling to come to grips with his experiences. Just in time for the holidays, Strings and Ribbons, is a Christmas-themed song that has surfaced in numerous spots over the years but until now had not been given a proper release.

The Details are excited to get back on the road in support of The Original Mark ep. With tour plans in the works for this fall and spring, in addition to the festival appearances, you're sure to be able to catch The Details in a town near you very soon.

This show is open to our friends of any age. We hope to see you all there!

02.06.10 - Hear what mixes sound like in the rainforest.

An update from Stephen Carroll on how the album mixing is going:

I went surfing and ate seaweed right from the sea floor with my teeth, and was chased by an eagle who dove in the water after me and told me underwater that we should take the trumpet out of Lost Art. We high-fived and then a salmon swam by and I asked it back to the studio. He has great mix ideas, though I think it is napping now. Gibson has carved a totem pole on his side of the couch of an orca playing a bongo (a little kitschy if you ask me... maybe that's his thing), and he keeps asking for more cymbals. We are taking regular hacky sack breaks and are smoking so much weed that Daryl was worried the hard drive was getting high and would forget all its parts. So now we are going to buy some crystal meth from the Trailer Park Boys who live in the house and I am going to break into some neighborhood houses for kix while we clean up the tracks. The Eagle said he might stop in, but him and the salmon are fighting over some overdubs from the last session. All in all going well. So yeah, when we are not watching Daryl's back we are driving around in his pickup truck listening to mixes and trying to pick fights with organic farmers or their friends. They are harder to spot than you'd think. The Salmon is a tough one. "Watch out", we say to the farmers. "He's a biter." I am going surfing in the morning to hear what the mixes sound like in the rainforest.

Best,
Stephen.

02.03.10 - Words that ring with broken dreams.

We've lent our song "Underground" to Sean Garrity's new film titled "Zooey & Adam". You can find out more about the film and showtimes at www.zooeyandadam.com.

01.31.10 - Pretend with me that silence is a thing that sounds brand new.

Album recording completed!!! On it's way to Victoria, BC for mixing...
